Privacy Policy

As we did for the more general Legal Notes, we intend to treat you like we would like to be treated ourselves, and we tried to give you as much control as possible over your personal data. In general, you can visit our website and download evaluation versions of our software without telling us who you are or revealing any other information about yourself. You can also use automated tools like our Software Director to check for software news and updates without transmitting any data about yourself or about installed applications.

Territories

In accordance with international directives on privacy and data processing, we inform you that any personal data that we collect is stored and processed on computer systems registered and used in accordance with applicable legislation. The data may be processed or stored in the United States, in the European Union and in any other country. When we use service providers (e.g. for ecommerce) we require from our partners compliance with the relevant directives (e.g. EU GDPR, US Privacy Shield).

Collection and Use of Personal Information

We collect personal data with the purpose of improving our products and services, and to inform customers and users about security and other product and service updates relevant to our customers. When data is collected for other purposes (e.g. customer satisfaction surveys, technical support), this is stated.

Personal data is not sold or otherwise forwarded to unrelated third parties, unless we are required to respond to subpoenas, court orders or other legitimate requests from law enforcement or government authorities.

We use different regional development, publishing, sales and support organizations which adhere to equivalent privacy policies, and information may be shared among these units as required to permit them to perform their obligations to us. We require these organizations to undertake to protect personal information and to only use it in accordance with applicable laws and for the purposes for which they are specifically engaged.

Children

Our website does not offer information intended to attract children. Cloanto does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under the age of 16.

Web Server Logs, Cookies

Accesses to our web servers are logged in standard internet web server log files, which include date and time information and the IP address (domain) of the internet client (e.g. your web browser). No email addresses are collected in this process.

We use cookies to provide for "clickstream" logs of website activity. These logs are useful to better understand what web visitors in general are looking for and how a site can be improved. Cookies are optional: the site remains accessible even to internet clients which do not support cookies, or in which such support has been disabled.

We use Google Analytics to study our website traffic. This system also uses cookies, and has a separate privacy policy on its site.

We do not host third-party banners which employ cookies.

Security of Personal Information

We have implemented industry-standard security practices and procedures to protect data from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. We do not store personal data on the same computers which also function as web servers.

Email Communications

Should you contact us by email, you may receive a personal (manually-sent) and/or an automatic reply, which may include the full or partial body of your original message, as well as other information related to your message. Automatic procedures as well as human error may cause our replies to be sent to the "From" and/or "Reply To" email address of your message, even if in the message body you specifically ask that replies be sent to a different address.

In order to protect our customers from being unknowingly misrepresented by third parties, when we receive a request concerning a registered product (e.g. in the case of a lost order file or license key, or when a change of email address is requested) we may also contact and/or reply to the email address which was originally registered for that product.

When we process an "unsubscribe" or "delete" request, we store the email address associated with the request, with the sole purpose of ensuring that customer data will not be imported and used again from our service providers. On request, we can also delete the email address itself.

Software Access to Subscription Services

When Cloanto software connects to the Cloanto website to access services which are not available to the general public, but only as part of a subscription service (which may be included with a licensed product), a cryptographic hash of the product or service license key may be transmitted as part of the procedure to log on to the requested service. This information may be used for license compliance purposes.

Google Play, iOS, Windows Phone Apps

Our apps (Amiga Forever Essentials, C64 Forever Essentials, Currency) do not collect, store or transmit personal user data.

Online Orders

We do not process online orders directly, but rather we prefer to work with some of the most reputable e-commerce providers in the world. For your security and safety, orders at the Cloanto Online Store are processed by worldwide leaders in online sales.

Our e-commerce partners provide us with order details which include the customer's name, email and mailing address. We store such information on systems which are physically separate from our publicly accessible web servers. We do not receive any payment or credit card information. Please do not send us any credit card-related information.

For additional information about the data that is collected in relation to online orders please refer to the privacy information provided by our e-commerce partners.

Third-Party Sites

Third-party sites, even if linked to, are not under our control. Please contact any such sites directly if you wish to inquire about their privacy policies.

Consent

By using our website, you consent to the collection and use of the information you provide to us as outlined in this privacy policy.

Changes

We may change this privacy policy from time to time and without notice. Should this privacy policy be modified, any changes will be posted on this page, so that you are always aware of what information is collected, how it is used, and under what circumstances it may be shared, if ever. If you wish to be promptly informed about such changes, please consider that some web browsers include the option to monitor a "subscribed" or "favorite" page, and notify you when the contents of the page changes. A similar functionality is provided by various free online services.

No Guarantees

While this privacy policy states our standards for maintenance of data and we will make our best effort to meet and exceed them, we are not in a position to guarantee these standards, as there may be factors beyond our control that may result in disclosure of data. As a consequence, other than what is required by applicable regulations, we disclaim any warranties or representations relating to maintenance or nondisclosure of data. In case of an incident, we are committed to meet and exceed reporting and other response requirements.

Additional Information, Feedback
